MAZAR-E-SHARIF: The construction of a gate to honor the martyrs of the Islamic Emirate, worth over 3.4 million Afghanis (some 50,145 U.S. dollars) has been completed and inaugurated in Mazar-e-Sharif, the Balkh’s governor press office said in a statement.
The gate was constructed to honor 200 Mujahidin of the Islamic Emirate who were martyred in a mass execution during the first period of the Islamic Emirate’s rule in Balkh province, said the statement.
“In the first rule of the Islamic Emirate around 200 Mujahidin were martyred on Jawza 1376 solar year [June-1991] by General Malik in Balkh province,” said the statement.
