KABUL: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a one-year ban on Sri Lankan left-arm batsman Praveen Jayavekarma due to “corruption”.
The ICC said in a statement that Jayawickrama “corrupted” the Sri Lanka Premier League and was banned from all cricket for up to a year.
“He has breached the council’s anti-corruption codes,” said the statement, adding that he was accused of violating the International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption law and was given a week to submit an explanation to the council in this regard.
Praveen Jayawickrama has played five 20-over matches, five ODIs and five Test matches for Sri Lanka, totaling 15 matches.
