Islamic Emirate marks Oct 7 as a “Dark Day” in Afghanistan’s history

KABUL: The Deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, in a statement on Monday declared October 7, the 23rd anniversary of the foreign invasion of the U.S.-led NATO forces, a “dark day” in the history of Afghanistan.

“The event was a ‘brutal attack’ on Afghanistan, resulting in thousands of casualties, injuries, imprisonments, and displacements,” the statement quoted him as saying.

After 20-years of occupation the invaders realized that their invasion was their greatest mistake, said the statement.

Praising the 20-year struggle of the Mujahidin against the invaders, asserted that it was this resistance that led to the defeat of the foreign forces and the liberation of Afghanistan, according to the statement.

It is noteworthy that the foreign forces, led by the U.S.-led NATO forces invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001, in violation of international law.
