KABUL: The Leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un, has stated that his country is intensifying its efforts to become a nuclear superpower.
He made the remarks at a university in the country on Monday, North Korean state news agency reported.
The North Korean leader added that the goal of transforming the country into a nuclear superpower is to respond to potential attacks from other nations against North Korea.
He emphasized that North Korea has no intention of attacking South Korea.
North Korea’s nuclear program is cited as a major source of tension between the country and the West.
These programs have resulted in North Korea facing severe sanctions from Western countries, particularly the United States.
