KABUL: The Uzbek special envoy for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev, in a meeting with Alexandre Escouria, an official from the General Directorate of International Relations at the French Ministry of Armed Forces, discussed various issues including the situation of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed key topics including border security, counter-terrorism efforts, and the fight against drug and arms trafficking, said the statement.
The statement noted that Escouria emphasized Uzbekistan’s critical role in stabilizing Central Asia.
Since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate this is the first meeting of the French and Uzbek officials.
Uzbekistan, as a neighboring Central Asian country, maintains extensive political, economic, and trade relations with Kabul.
