KANDAHAR: A significant amount of 6,015 tons of pomegranates have been exported from Kandahar to the world markets in the current solar year, the provincial Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department said in a statement on Wednesday.
Provincial spokesman of the Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Department Mohammad Hanif Haqmal, said that most of the exports have been made to the United Arab Emirates, India, England, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Pakistan, showing a significant increase compared to the last year.
He adds that the series of pomegranate exports will be extended to other countries in the future.
It is said that this year, due to the increase in water and the decrease in pomegranate diseases, the Kandahar’s pomegranate yields has increased.
