Osman Toshif appointed head coach of Afghanistan National Football Team

KABUL: The spokesman of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, Atal Mashwani, said in a statement on Monday that Osman Toshif was appointed as the new head coach of the Afghanistan national football team.

According to the statement, Osman Toshif has taken charge of the national team for one year after signing a contract with the National Football Federation.

Toshif, a citizen of Uzbekistan, is recognized as an experienced coach in his country and Central Asia, said the statement, adding that the National Football Federation plans to utilize Mr. Toshif’s expertise in teaching and conducting AFC Level 1 coaching courses.

This development comes amid concerns from sports experts that the national football team has not achieved satisfactory performance on the international stage in recent years.
