KABUL: The Deputy Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Minister, Mawlavi Sadr Azam Osmani, met with Zhao Xing, Chinese ambassador to Kabul, here in his office, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed strengthening relations in the agricultural sector and coordinating Mawlavi Sadra Azam Osmani’s upcoming visit to China.
Mawlavi Osmani will discuss alternative livelihoods, marketing agricultural products, and developing relations between Kabul and Beijing with the officials of that country, said the statement.
“The Afghan agricultural products could have a special place in Chinese markets, and industrial products from China would also find a good market in Afghanistan,” the statement quoted Mawlavi Osmani as saying.
Zhao Xing, the Chinese ambassador, emphasized the economic cooperation between Kabul and Beijing, stating that China welcomes Afghan agricultural products, particularly pine nuts and pomegranates.
He mentioned that, for this reason, China has lifted customs tariffs on Afghan exports.
