Minister Jalali discusses polio eradication with WHO representative in Saudi

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, during his stay in Saudi Arabia, met with the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

Strengthening of healthcare services, increasing initiatives to eradicate polio and other transmissible diseases, and expanding healthcare access to marginalized and remote communities, have been discussed in the meeting, said the statement.

Minister Jalali stressed that after establishing the Islamic Emirate, significant progress has been made in fortifying the healthcare system by leveraging domestic financial resources.

He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to strengthening healthcare frameworks at the district level and outlined a phased approach toward attaining self-sufficiency within the health sector.
