Knife attack leaves eight dead, 17 wounds in China

KABUL: As a result of a knife attack in an educational institution in the Jiangsu region of eastern China, 8 people were killed, and 17 others were injured, police confirmed.

A 21-year-old student, known as Shou, carried out the attack at the Wuxi Institute of Art and Technology late on Saturday evening, said the police as media reported.

According to police, the reason behind the attack was Shou’s failure to pass an exam and obtain his diploma from the institution.

It is reported that Shou has been arrested by the police and is currently under investigation.

Knife attacks are not unprecedented in China; in September of this year, a 44-year-old man also fatally stabbed a 10-year-old Japanese student in Shenzhen, located in southern China.
