KABUL: As a result of an explosion in Southern Waziristan, Pakistan, Mufti Azal Haq, a local leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, has been killed and five others injured, media reported.
The blast took place on Sunday evening while people were returning home after performing evening prayers at a mosque in the Azam Khan Wersak area of Southern Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistani police reported that the explosion was controlled by a remotely detonated landmine.
Recent weeks have seen an increase in unrest in Pakistan.
Just two days ago, nine Pakistani soldiers were killed and 17 others wounded in an attack by the Baloch Liberation Army on a security forces center in Balochistan province.
