Electricity contract extended for another year with Tajikistan, DABS

KABUL: Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherakt (DABS), said in a statement on Monday that the power purchase agreement has been renewed with Tajikistan for another year.

The power agreement for 2025, between Dr. Abdul Bari Omar the CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, and Mohammad Omar Asazada, the CEO of Tajikistan’s Tajik Electricity Company has been signed in Turkiye, according to the statement.

Afghanistan imports 500 kilovolts of electricity from Tajikistan annually. Based on the information, the current power demands of Afghanistan are 1,500 megawatts with up to 720 megawatts being imported and the rest supplied by internal sources.
