UN and EU praise Torkham border management’s efforts


KABUL: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations said in a statement on Tuesday that the United Nations representative and the European Union ambassador to Kabul have commended the efforts of the Torkham border management.

They [Representatives of the UN and EU] visited the Torkham border management in Nangarhar province.

“Since the reestablishment of the Islamic Emirate, significant services and assistance have been provided to Afghan migrants at Torkham, which were previously lacking,” they said.

Meanwhile, Bakht Jamal Gohar, the head of Torkham border management, emphasized the need for cooperation to address the challenges faced by migrants at the border. It is worth noting that over the past year, approximately one million Afghan migrants have returned to the country through Torkham after being expelled from Pakistan.
