Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemns assassination of Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani

KABUL: The spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ismail Baqaei, condemned the attack and assassination of Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriations in Afghanistan.

According to a statement from the Iranian embassy in Kabul this morning, the spokesperson extended condolences to Mr. Haqqani’s family and the families of other victims of the attack.

“We strongly condemn the terrorist act that led to the martyrdom of Mr. Haqqani and several others in Kabul,” said the statement quoted the spokesman as saying.

The explosion targeting the acting minister has also drawn reactions from other countries, including Pakistan.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the assassination of Mawlavi Haqqani.

The Islamic Emirate, in its own statement, claimed that the attack on Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani was the work of enemies.
