Muttaqi discusses various economic issues with Turkmen counterpart


KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov, here in the border areas between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesman for the ministry said in a statement this morning.

According to the statement, the foreign ministers of both countries also visited the progress of the TAPI pipeline project.

Minister Muttaqi and Minister Meredov discussed the TAPI pipeline, railway projects, railway, Torghundi railway warehouses, fiber optic transmission, and visa issuance and transport facilities.

Rashid Meredov provided detailed information regarding the speed and progress of the TAPI project and the next steps.

Both sides committed to enhancing cooperation to expedite the construction of the TAPI pipeline, expand railway lines, facilitate electricity supply, transport, and visa issuance, and simplify economic collaborations, said the statement adding that technical teams from Kabul and Ashgabat agreed to increase their meetings. The TAPI project is currently progressing rapidly within Afghanistan, particularly in Herat province.
