KABUL: The Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement that work on the first phase of the Kharwar Dam project worth 31 million Afghanis have been completed in Logar province.
The first phase of the dam, located in the Kharwar district of Logar, has a storage capacity of 11.1 million cubic meters of water and can generate 362 kilowatts of electricity.
Also, the stored water of the dam will facilitate the irrigation of 2,155 hectares of agricultural land, said the statement.
The statement noted that the funding for the construction of the Kharwar Dam was provided by the Ministry of Water and Energy’s budget and no details have been provided regarding the remaining phases and their timeline for initiation and completion.
