Senior Russian General killed in explosion in Moscow

KABUL: The commander of Russia’s nuclear and chemical protection forces, General Igor Kirillov, has been killed in an explosion today near the Kremlin, media reported.

According to the media reports, a bomb was planted in a vehicle used by the Russian general.

The Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed the explosion and the death of General Kirillov and his aide.

No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing or the killing of the senior Russian general, so far.

Although Russia has been engaged in conflict with Ukraine for nearly three years, this is the first time a key general has been killed in the capital.
