KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan rejected the recent remarks of Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, calling Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni a “looter,” calling the statements impudent and irresponsible.
The deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, in response to Asif’s comments in a statement on Monday night, said that Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi is a source of pride for the Muslim ummah and lack of historical awareness from a figure at the level of Pakistan’s Defense Minister is regretful.
“A Pakistani official makes abusive remarks about Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi, while Pakistan’s defense arsenal missiles are named after him. History shows that Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi frequently traveled to India and other regions to rescue and liberate oppressed and Muslim nations,” he said.
Fitrat further said: “Although Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi was fundamentally an Afghan Muslim, he empathized and cooperated with all oppressed and threatened nations in the region due to his moral responsibility, considering the defense of their lives and properties as his duty—a notion that he suggested even figures like Khawaja Asif cannot comprehend”.
The recent remarks of Khawaja Asif during an interview with a Pakistani media outlet regarding Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi, sparked strong reactions among citizens and officials in Afghanistan.
