China’s first rail transit shipment arrives in Afghanistan via Iran

KABUL: Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Works, Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, said in a statement today that the first rail transit shipment from China to Afghanistan has arrived in Herat Province via Iranian territory.

The shipment contained 1,000 tons of “iron coils” and reached the Ruzanak railway station in Herat.

“This shipment traveled from China to the Bandar Abbas crossing in Iran and then entered Afghanistan through Iran’s railway network.

The Ministry of Public Works considers the successful arrival of this shipment from China to Afghanistan via Iran, a significant step in developing transit relations and connecting the country to international waters.

The completion of the Khaf-Herat railway line will create new capacity for rail transit in Afghanistan.
