KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, has had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the interim government of Syria, Asad Hassan Al-Shibani, the deputy spokesman of the ministry Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said in a statement on his X on Friday.
Congratulating him on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister Muttaqi wished him success in his mission.
He praised the new rulers of Syria for their amnesty and good governance and hoped that Kabul and Damascus would have better diplomatic relations.
Minister Muttaqi said: “Afghans have seen suffering for almost half a century and can understand the current situation in Syria well.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of Syria, Asad Hassan Al-Shibani, thanked Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi over the phone.
He said that the Afghans’ 20-years of struggle against invadere is a good experience to other nations.
The Syrian Foreign Minister also expressed his hope that the relations between the two countries would further expand and that there would be meetings between the two sides.
