KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce said in a statement today that, based on directives from an extraordinary meeting of the Islamic Emirate’s Economic Commission, it has commenced work to activate inactive government and private cold storage facilities across the country.
According to the statement, six cold storage facilities with capacities of 1,500 metric tons and 100 metric tons will be established in various provinces this year.
“Three new cold storage facilities, each with a capacity of 1,500 metric tons, will be constructed in Kunduz, Kandahar, and Balkh provinces, while three facilities, each with a capacity of 100 metric tons, will be built in Jawzjan, Sar-e Pul, and Kabul provinces,” said the statement.
The statement further said: “There are currently 32 cold storage facilities in the country, including 9 government-owned and 23 private facilities. Among these, 14 cold storage facilities with a capacity of 1,500 metric tons are inactive in 12 provinces”.
According to the statement, China plans to construct three cold storage facilities, each with a capacity of 1,500 metric tons, in Kabul, Takhar, and Badakhshan provinces.
