Islamabad-based IEA embassy expresses concerns over arrest, harassment of hundreds of Afghan migrants in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Islamic Emirate, in a statement on Monday, expressed serious concerns regarding reports of the arrest, house-to-house searches, and extortion of Afghan migrants in Pakistan.

“Pakistani police have recently detained 800 Afghan migrants, including individuals who hold valid visas, PoR, ACC cards, and who are also eligible for obtaining NOCs. The situation has led to family separations, including women and children, many of whom are still stranded in Pakistan,” said the statement.

The embassy of the Islamic Emirate based in Islamabad has urged the Pakistani police to urgently address these serious concerns.

Furthermore, the embassy has officially shared these issues with the Pakistani government and called upon the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and human rights organizations to intervene in this matter.

It is noteworthy that reports of the arrest, harassment, and extortion of Afghan migrants in Pakistan’s capital have increased in recent days.
