KABUL: A court in Pakistan has sentenced Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and former Prime Minister, to 14 years in prison, while his wife, Bushra Bibi, has been sentenced to 7 years.
Both individuals have been accused in a corruption case involving £190 million.
The decision was delivered by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, who stated that, in addition to prison time, they must also pay a fine of 1 million Pakistani rupees.
Khan’s government came to an end in April 2022 after a no-confidence motion, and since then, he has faced numerous legal challenges and trials.
