KABUL: The Deputy Minister of Public Works for Railway Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, met with Morteza Jafari, Deputy of the Iranian Railways, and his accompanying delegation, here in Kabul, spokesman of the ministry Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Haqshenas, both sides discussed increasing transfers via the Khaf-Herat railway, providing necessary facilities for the export, import, and transit of traders, enhancing the capacity for cargo, commercial goods, and fostering bilateral railway cooperation.
The meeting comes as officials from the Ministry of Public Works noted an increase in rail transfers between Iran and Afghanistan.
Also, local officials in Herat province previously reported a 20% rise in exports of Afghan domestic products from this province compared to last year.
