KABUL: President Donald Trump on Monday pardoned nearly all the rioters charged in connection to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
Donald Trump, the newly inaugurated President of the United States, signed the order in the early hours after returning to the White House, granting pardons to 1,500 prisoners.
The freed individuals are said to be supporters of Trump from the 2020 election campaign.
Upon entering the White House on Monday night, Trump signed 200 executive orders, marking the first time a U.S. president has issued such a large number of executive orders on their first day in office.
Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States in a ceremony attended by over 2,400 people at the U.S. Capitol.
