KABUL: Roza Otunbayeva, head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has called for an investment promotion program in five zones of the country.
She made the remarks in a meeting with the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, where she praised a recent investment promotion meeting held by the ministry in Kabul, according to a statement from the ministry on Tuesday.
In the meeting, the development of industrial parks, the establishment of an entrepreneurship center, the creation of an online trade center, support for the private sector, addressing electricity issues in industrial parks, and priorities for the Afghan private sector have been discussed, the statement said.
The head of UNAMA also provided information about the private sector working group that was agreed upon in the third Doha meeting.
This comes as the Ministry of Industry and Commerce recently launched a program in Kabul and asked traders and investors to return to the country and invest in various sectors.
