Over 4,000 kgs of drugs seized in Kandahar

KABUL: Kandahar’s security forces have discovered and seized 4,211 kilograms of drugs, the Kandahar Police Command said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Kandahar’s security forces conducting counter-narcotics operations discovered and seized various kinds of drugs, including 3,676 kilograms of hashish, 450 kilograms of opium, and 85 kilograms of heroin from the 5th Police District of Shorabak, Kandahar, along the Durand Line,” said the statement.

According to the statement, the drug shipment was intended to cross into Afghanistan from the other side of the Durand Line.

Drug traffickers managed to escape, and efforts are underway to arrest them.

Combating drug trafficking is considered one of the main priorities of the Islamic Emirate.
