Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi: Ground realities differ from propagation in foreign media

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Tariq Ali Bakheet Special Envoy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General on Afghanistan and his accompanying delegation, here in Kabul

The Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, wrote on his X account that the two sides discussed various issues including security, education, counter-narcotics, the economy, developmental assistance, and strengthening Afghanistan’s representation in the organization.

The Foreign Minister stated that the ground realities differ from the narratives reflected in foreign media regarding security, economic issues, education, the fight against drugs, and engagement with the region and the world.

Tariq Bakheet emphasized that they are here to observe the realities with their own eyes and to hear perspectives from various sides, but ultimately, decisions will be made independently and in light of the realities.

He added: “We have not supported a selective approach in our dealings with Afghanistan from the beginning and believe in a policy based on discovering and reflecting the realities.”
