KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered a reduction in the sanctions imposed on Russia, Reuters reported on Monday night.
Trump instructed the Departments of Treasury and State to identify specific sanctions on Russia that could be lifted.
The aim of this sanctions reduction is to improve relations between Washington and Moscow, said the report.
Also, ending the war in Ukraine is cited as a key objective of reducing sanctions on Russia.
It is noteworthy that since the inauguration of the new U.S. administration under Donald Trump, the country’s policy toward Russia has shifted compared to that of the previous administration.
