KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce signed 15 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs), worth over $12.4 million with various national and international institutions, the ministry said in a statement today.
The MoUs have been signed between the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi, and representatives of the respective institutions to support and strengthen the entrepreneurial sector in the country.
The signing institutions are expected to work on developing essential entrepreneurial skills, promoting the growth and development of the carpet industry, the jewelry industry, and handicrafts, as well as conducting market assessments and identifying challenges faced by small and medium enterprises.
Also, the institutions will focus on training underprivileged families in producing homemade dairy products and processing vegetables, as well as providing necessary equipment and technical training in the collection and packaging of pistachios.
It is expected that 17,673 individuals in the provinces of Kabul, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Balkh, Kandahar, Logar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Badghis, Faryab, Jawzjan, Nangarhar, Takhar, and Bamyan will benefit from these initiatives.
