KABUL: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said in a statement on Monday, that Almasbek Tumanov, former Deputy Minister of Mines from Kyrgyzstan, and Azer Shukurov, former Deputy Minister from Azerbaijan, expressed interest in investing in Afghanistan’s mines.
They made the remarks during a meeting with the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, called Afghanistan’s mining investment opportunities favorable and requested cooperation from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Tumanov and Shukurov indicated their willingness to invest in the country’s oil and gas sectors, as well as in the establishment of standard laboratories.
“The ministry is committed to attracting foreign investors and creating better facilities for them, promising to provide all necessary support in accordance with mining laws,” the statement quoted Minister Badri as saying.
Since the Islamic Emirate takeover of the country, a number of foreign investors have invested in the country.
