China calls for lifting UN sanctions on Islamic Emirate officials

KABUL: Speaking at the UN Security Council, on Monday night, the Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fou Cong, called for the lifting of UN sanctions on officials of the Islamic Emirate.

He emphasized that adjustment of travel sanctions on Islamic Emirate officials would facilitate greater engagement with Afghanistan, allowing the international community to enter into cooperation and dialogue with the country.

“Considering the humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, Western countries should assist the people of this nation without political conditions or considerations,” he said, urging the Western nations to provide support to Afghanistan due to the situation they have contributed to.

Previously, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN also called for global engagement and cooperation with the Islamic Emirate during a Security Council meeting.
