KABUL: A federal judge in the U.S. has issued a verdict to prevent the deportation of Mahmoud Khalil, a student who supports Palestine, Reuters reported this morning.
Following an order from President Donald Trump to deport Palestinian-supporting students, Khalil was detained by the U.S. authorities and faced imminent expulsion.
U.S. Federal Judge Jace Foreman ruled that Mahmoud Khalil will remain in the country until a court decision is made regarding Trump’s order to deport students who support Palestine.
This ruling came after a complaint was filed by Khalil’s attorney.
Media reports indicate that Khalil is a student at Columbia University and had entered negotiations with university leadership following Trump’s directive.
