Afghanistan’s exports, imports via air corridors reach nearly $300 million, ministry

KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce said in a statement on Sunday that exports and imports valued at $295 million have been conducted through air corridors this year.

According to the statement, Afghanistan’s trade activities through air corridors have taken place from the airports of Kabul and Kandahar to a number of countries including Austria, Jordan, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, the UK, the USA, South Africa, Germany, China and India.

“The value of exports through air corridors reached $128 million, while imports totaled $167 million,” said the statement.

The export items from Afghanistan included dried fruits, saffron, figs (both dried and fresh), jujubes, black nuts, new clothing, and handicrafts, said the statement adding that the imported items consisted of medicines and electronic equipment.
