KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Migrant Issues has called on neighboring countries to refrain from the immediate and forced expulsion of Afghan migrants.
The meeting was held on Sunday evening under the chairmanship of Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs and Chairman of the Commission.
In the meeting, commission members emphasized that Afghan migrants should return to their country through goodwill measures and in the framework of a joint mechanism between the two countries.
During the meeting, discussions focused on improving the handling of migrant issues, with a call for the activities of the Commission’s working committees to be increased and expedited more than ever.
The Commission has called on the OIC, the United Nations, European countries, and other global organizations to prioritize addressing the challenges faced by Afghan migrants.
As the deadline set by the Pakistani government for the forced and collective expulsion of Afghan migrants approaches, preparations for managing this situation are reportedly being implemented within the country.
Recently, the Pakistani government decided to resume the process of forced and collective expulsions of Afghans after March 31.
