Construction work on terminal worth 50 million Afghanis kicks off in Baghan

KABUL: Construction work on a terminal for passenger and freight vehicles, worth 50 million Afghanis has been kicked off in Baghlan province.

Habib Rahman Rahimi, the legal advisor of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, stated that following the rehabilitation of the Salang Highway and the connection of Afghanistan with China via the Wakhan Corridor, there has been an increase in trade transit between Pakistan and Central Asia, and the need for this terminal has arisen.

According to him, the terminal will be built on 46 jeribs of land on the outskirts of Pul-e-Khumri city and in addition to a parking lot, a special free accommodation for drivers is also being considered.

The Northern Highway, which connects the capital Kabul with Central Asia, passes through Baghlan and is considered a vital corridor for transit and trade in Afghanistan.
