KABUL: The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, reacting to the extension of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), on Monday urged the UNAMA representation not to propagate baseless concerns as in the past and to refrain from being a tool of biased factions.
“We ask the UNAMA to focus on strengthening relations between Afghanistan, the United Nations, and other countries, accurately reflecting the security, economic, and social progress in Afghanistan, upholding the international rights of the Afghan people, lifting unjust sanctions, ending the freezing of assets, and restoring Afghanistan’s seat at the United Nations to the Afghans,” he said.
It is noteworthy that the United Nations Security Council extended the mandate of UNAMA for another year last night.
