KABUL: The United Nations Security Council, in a meeting on Monday, extended the mission of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) for another year.
According to a statement from the UN press office, all fifteen permanent and non-permanent members of the Security Council expressed their support for UNAMA’s activities for another year through the adoption of Resolution 2777.
The statement highlighted that the Security Council members appreciated the UN’s long-term commitment to supporting the people of Afghanistan.
The members emphasized their backing for the activities of the UN Secretary-General’s representative, who leads UNAMA’s work in Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that the Islamic Emirate has called on the UN agency to reflect the true situation of the country to the world while providing a necessary and suitable environment for UNAMA’s operations in Afghanistan.
