Ukraine peace talks to be held today in Saudi Arabia

KABUL: Russian and Ukrainian negotiating teams are set to hold peace talks aimed at ending the war in Saudi Arabia, with mediation from the United States.
Reuters citing U.S. officials reported today that the Ukrainian delegation, led by the country’s Minister of Defense, arrived in Riyadh on Sunday, while the Russian team is expected to join them today to discuss the details of an agreement between Kyiv and Moscow.
The Ukrainian team met on Sunday with officials from the U.S. government in Saudi Arabia to discuss the protection of energy facilities and infrastructure in the country, serving as a precursor to today’s discussions.
The American team is expected to share the details of the meeting with the Russian delegation.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff expressed hope for an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
The U.S. delegation plans to meet separately with both Kyiv and Moscow teams to relay each side’s demands to the other.
It remains to be seen whether the Ukrainian and Russian delegations will reach any agreements in today’s negotiations.
