Contracts for 10 electricity generation and transmission projects worth 20.7 bln Afghanis signed

KABUL: Contracts for seven electricity generation projects and three energy transmission projects worth 20.7 billion Afghanis, have been signed in the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.
The office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said in a statement today that the contracts were signed between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat and the private sector during a ceremony held at the Government Media and Information Center in Kabul, attended by senior officials of the Islamic Emirate.
According to the statement, seven electricity generation projects will produce 228.45 megawatts of solar and gas power in the provinces of Balkh, Herat, Laghman, Logar, Nangarhar, and Jawzjan.
Also, 200 megawatts of wind power will be invested and produced in a separate project in Herat province.
The energy transmission projects include the construction of substations in eastern Kandahar province, the establishment of a substation in Qalat city, the capital of Zabul province, and the extension of a 110-kilovolt line from the Kajaki Dam to the city of Kandahar.
The statement noted that both domestic and foreign private sectors will invest in these projects.
