KABUL: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has constructed a 1.46-kilometer irrigation canal in Nangarhar province.
The FAO said in a statement on Wednesday that the canal was built in the Kama district of Nangarhar with a joint initiative supported by the World Bank.
The completion of the canal has facilitated the irrigation of 140 hectares of land, enhancing crop yield and supporting agricultural production are also parts of this developmental project.
The UN did not disclose the cost of the project.
It is noteworthy that investment in water management projects is a priority for both Emirati and non-Emirati agencies.
