KANDAHAR: Following reports of an explosion in Kandahar province, the provincial police command has confirmed the occurrence of the explosion, describing it as controlled.
According to a statement from the Kandahar police command on Thursday, the old and obsolete munitions of the Kandahar police command had detonated, this morning.
The police command did not mention any casualties or damages resulting from the incident.
Earlier, some media outlets had reported the occurrence of an explosion in the city of Kandahar.
Controlled explosions have previously been conducted by security forces to eliminate collected and non-functional munitions.
