Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice rejects UNAMA’s recent report

KABUL: Spokesperson for the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Mawlavi Saif-ul-Islam Khaibar, in an audio tape on Thursday, rejected the recent report from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) regarding the law on promotion of virtue and prevention of vice.
“Certain organizations and unidentified intelligence entities are, as before, attempting to tarnish the reputation of the Islamic system, particularly the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, to achieve their nefarious goals,” he said.
According to Mr. Khaibar, the ministry has made every effort to restore the Sharia rights of the citizens of Afghanistan, enforce the law, and improve society.
He added that preventing numerous cases of forced and underage marriages is a clear example of these efforts.
It is noteworthy that UNAMA has published a report today criticizing the law on promotion of virtue and prevention of vice, claiming that the United Nations Security Council has called for a halt to the enforcement of this law.
