KABUL: In its third meeting, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the High Council of Standards approved seventeen new standards and testing methods, the Deputy PM office said in a statement today.
According to the statement, the approved standards aim to improve the quality of consumer goods in various sectors, including food, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, construction materials, petroleum products, electrical equipment, textiles, leather, environmental protection, chemicals and plastics, medical devices, halal products, and minerals.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar emphasized the importance of standardization for engaging with the world, noting that it is essential for international interaction.
Meanwhile, Mullah Faizullah Tamim, Head of the Afghanistan National Standards Authority (ANSA), said that development, promotion, and implementation of national standards are vital for economic growth, public health, and enhancing the credibility of domestic products in international markets.
“247 standards and testing methods have been finalized by technical committees for the standardization of domestic production and imported goods in the past one year,” the statement quoted him as saying.
The High Council of Standards, composed of representatives from various ministries and agencies, is dedicated to standardizing both imported and domestic products.
