Uzbekistan to provide training for Afghans in agriculture sector

KABUL: Mawlavi Ataullah Omari, the acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, and his accompanying delegation, during his visit to Uzbekistan, met with officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy, Water, and Agriculture.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock said in a statement today that both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in modernizing irrigation systems to promote water conservation.
The two sides discussed various issues, including the development of irrigation systems, reinforcement of the Amu River, effective use of water resources, and the impact of climate change on water resources in the Amu basin.
The officials of Uzbekistan have emphasized on the continuation of the visits of technical delegations and the strengthening of cooperation.
The Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to provide training and capacity-building for Afghan employees in agriculture, irrigation, and livestock sectors, said the statement.
Also, Mawlavi Ataullah Omari invited officials from Uzbekistan’s Energy and Water Ministry to visit Afghanistan and explore existing capacities.
