IEA calls UNAMA’s criticism of implementing Qisas irresponsible

KABUL: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has called UNAMA’s criticism of the implementation of Qisas (an Islamic term meaning retaliation to murder) in the country as “irresponsible” and contrary to the mission of the organization.

In a statement released today, the ministry reacted to UNAMA’s statements regarding Qisas, clarifying that the enforcement of this law is an undeniable part of Islamic Sharia and has been proven effective in maintaining social order.

According to the statement, the Islamic system considers the implementation of Qisas as a duty.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged UNAMA to refrain from criticizing the application of Sharia laws in the future, asserting that the organization lacks a complete understanding of the teachings and guidance of the holy religion of Islam.

This comes after UNAMA called for a halt to Qisas sentences following executions of murder suspects in the provinces of Farah, Ghor, and Nimroz.
