KABUL: Dr. Mohammad Naeem, the Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Islamic Emirate has been invited by China to participate in the upcoming 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.
Ahmad Zia Takal, Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign said on Sunday, that the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kabul Zhao Xing, in a meeting with Dr. Naeem invited the Islamic Emirate to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
In the meeting, Dr. Naeem expressed gratitude for China’s invitation and bilateral cooperation, particularly in humanitarian assistance and support for migrants and returnees, said the statement.
Also, the two sides discussed the expansion of political, economic, and cultural relations between Afghanistan and China.
Meanwhile, the Chinese ambassador emphasized that China views Afghanistan as a neighboring country and is keen to strengthen and enhance relations.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, initiated by China, Russia, and four Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan), is a regional organization that has since expanded to include many other member states.
