Khalilzad calls presence of ISIS in Pakistan major threat to region and world

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. special envoy for peace in Afghanistan, has once again called the presence of ISIS in Pakistan as a significant threat to both regional and global security.

In a post on his X account, Khalilzad stated that there is credible evidence of ISIS hideouts and active training centers in the country. He noted that recently, in a raid by Baloch militants in Mastung, Balochistan, 30 ISIS members were killed, including Uzbek, Turkish, Indian, and Tajik elements.

Khalilzad has urged Pakistan to take serious action regarding the presence of ISIS and other terrorist groups.

His comments are not new; he has repeatedly warned Islamabad over the past few years about the support and activities of terrorist groups posing a serious threat to regional and global security.
