KABUL: The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and head of OCHA, here in his office.
During the meeting, Muttaqi emphasized the importance of addressing the Afghan people’s needs and priorities, urging attention to their humanitarian support.
He stated that after decades of conflict, insecurity, drug abuse, and other negative impacts of war, the Islamic Emirate is determined to stand the country on its own feet and free the Afghan people from reliance on humanitarian aid.
Fletcher noted that the UN and the Afghan government are working towards normalizing relations between the international community and Afghanistan, focusing on security, regional stability, climate change, and combating drug trafficking.
In the end, the Acting Foreign Minister assured his commitment to cooperation on behalf of the Islamic Emirate and emphasized the need for the effectiveness and utility of international aid.
