North Korea confirms deployment of troops to Russia against Ukraine

KABUL: For the first time, North Korea has acknowledged that it has sent troops to support Russia in the ongoing conflict against Ukraine.
State media in North Korea reported that its forces are playing a significant role in reclaiming territories from Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.
The Workers’ Party of Korea stated that Kim Jong-un has deployed soldiers to fight alongside Russian forces as part of a bilateral defense agreement between Moscow and Pyongyang.
North Korea has also expressed pride in its alliance with a powerful country like Russia. Last June, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un signed a strategic cooperation agreement, promising military support to each other in the event of conflict.
President Putin has thanked North Korean soldiers for fighting alongside Russian forces, stating: “We respect the bravery, high-level training, and sacrifices of the Korean soldiers who defended their homeland alongside our fighters.”
It is noteworthy that the Kremlin has confirmed the presence of 14,000 North Korean troops.
